Our Whelping & Puppy Raising Process
Raising French Bulldog Puppies
with Hands-On Care Every Step of the Way
At Snort & Snuggle Bulldogs, we believe families deserve to know exactly how their puppy is raised from the very beginning. From the moment puppies are born until the day they go home, we put an incredible amount of time, care, cleanliness, and attention into every stage of development.
Our goal is to raise healthy, well-socialized French Bulldog puppies with a strong foundation and a smooth transition into family life.
A Team Approach to Raising Our Puppies
Our puppies are raised with hands-on care from all three of our dedicated whelpers: Dad, Kaden, and myself. Having multiple experienced people involved allows us to closely monitor every puppy around the clock and make sure they receive the attention and care they need during each stage of development.
Our whelping pens are sanitized multiple times throughout the day to help maintain a clean and healthy environment for both mom and puppies. Puppies are also gently socialized every single day from an early age to help them grow into confident and loving companions.

Week-by-Week Puppy Development
1–2 Weeks Old
Around-the-Clock Care
During the first two weeks, puppies nurse from their mother every 3 hours. If needed, milk replacement is carefully used to ensure every puppy is thriving and receiving proper nutrition.
Between feedings, puppies are kept warm and monitored closely in an incubator to help regulate body temperature and support healthy development.
At this stage:

Puppies are hand cleaned daily

Weight and development are monitored closely

Puppies receive constant supervision and care
This stage requires a tremendous amount of attention, patience, and late nights, but it is one of the most important parts of raising healthy French Bulldog puppies.
2–4 Weeks Old
Growing Stronger Every Day
As the puppies grow, they begin spending all of their time with their mother and are fully nursing naturally.
During this stage:

Puppies continue to be hand cleaned daily

Early socialization continues every day

Puppies begin experiencing new sights, sounds, and smells

Puppies are introduced to supervised outdoor time for the first time
This early exposure helps build confidence and encourages healthy development.
5–7 Weeks Old
Beginning Puppy Mush & Early Exploration
At this stage, puppies begin transitioning to puppy mush while still nursing from their mother.
This is also when:

Puppies receive their first bath

Puppies are bathed at least once weekly afterward

Outdoor play and exploration become part of their daily routine

Socialization increases even more with people and new experiences
French Bulldog puppies are naturally curious, and this stage is important for helping them become comfortable with everyday life.
7–8 Weeks Old
Learning Independence
Between 7 and 8 weeks, puppies begin transitioning fully onto kibble and start the weaning process from their mother.
We also begin introducing:

Basic structure and routine

Continued socialization and confidence building
These early experiences help puppies adjust more smoothly to their future homes.
9 Weeks Old
Ready for Their Forever Homes
By 9 weeks old, our puppies are:

Fully weaned

Introduced to basic routines and leash exposure
At this point, they are ready to begin the next chapter with their forever families.
